The Project

Process Flow were engaged by Tasman District Council to upgrade two plants to meet the Drinking Water Standards of New Zealand. Prior to the upgrades, treatment consisted of bore extraction and chlorine dosing only.

The upgrade works included the design, procurement and installation of UV disinfection and filtration for both sites.

The scope included the supply of four modular water treatment plant buildings. The buildings house the UV and Filtration equipment and were fully assembled and pre-commissioned offsite.

Now commissioned both plants provide safe and reliable drinking water to the Wakefield and Brightwater communities.

Key Points

The Brightwater and Wakefield UV Upgrade project consisted of upgrading two sites with similar scope. The scope was to upgrade both sites to be compliant with the Drinking Water Standards of New Zealand. This was achieved by installing filtration and UV treatment units arranged in a duty/standby configuration.

The scope included the following key activities:

·        New Modular WTP Buildings

·        UV disinfection – duty/standby

·        Cartridge Filtration

·        Chlorine dosing – Upgrade to CL2 gas dosing system

·        Water Quality Instruments

·        Tie ins to existing water mains and bores
